LANGLEY, B.C. – The Trinity Western Spartans used a balanced attack to defeat the visiting UNBC Timberwolves 91-65 Friday night at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, BC. The win improves TWU to 2-1, while the loss drops UNBC to 0-3. 

Tessa Ratzlaff with 19 points and nine rebounds, Sarah Buckingham with 18 points and six assists, and Kayla Gordon with a double-double of 11 points and 10 points led the Spartans attack, which had nine players score over six points. 

Vasiliki Louka was impressive for the Timberwolves finishing the night with 22 points and 16 rebounds. Madison Landry also chipped in 16 points for UNBC. 

The Spartans led 46-29 at the half after taking a 23-13 lead after 10 minutes.

"We have been talking about our style of play and our tempo all season. We knew that we were going to be facing two of our biggest opponents, size wise, in the first two weeks with Alberta and UNBC. We knew that we couldn't get into a half court battle with these teams."  

"The first five minutes we forgot that and then we found our full court game once we hit our higher gear we knew they would have trouble staying with us."  

"Great shots were made, we had great defensive sequences and unselfish play, but in the end our players have bought in to how we can win games and that is speed and tempo."

UNBC had 44 rebounds to go with 14 assists and 12 steals
