BRANDON – The Bobcats snapped a mini two-game slide with a straight sets win over the Calgary Dinos in Canada West men's volleyball action on Friday afternoon at the Healthy Living Centre.

The set scores were 25-7, 25-18 and 25-20.

Elliott Viles scored a match-high 16 kills on 20 attempts with zero errors, as Brandon remained undefeated on home court this season.

Robin Baghdady was back to full speed after being hampered by injury. The Swiss star scored 11 kills as BU improved their record to 5-2.

"We did a great job executing," said Baghdady. "Compared to last weekend, we served and passed way better. After losing our last two matches, we were motivated to have a good showing in front of our fans."

Reece Dixon had a double-double with 34 assists and 11 digs, while Seth Friesen added 10 kills for Brandon.

The Bobcats' offence caught fire early with a 9-1 run carrying them into the technical timeout of the first with a 16-7 advantage. BU kept cruising as they closed out the opener by scoring nine consecutive points. Brandon's hitting percentage was a sparkling .625 in the first set.

BU took their offence to another level in the second set, hitting .636. Brandon's first surge of momentum was a 6-1 run to hold a 10-4 advantage. The rest of the set was more give and take, but the Bobcats held down the fort to take a commanding lead in the match.

The scoring in the third was balanced, until a 7-2 BU run put them ahead for good at 21-17.

Parker Siroishka was the top scorer for Calgary with 10 kills as the Dinos dropped to 2-3.

"I personally believe that the third set shows more of what we can do," said Siroishka. "The first and second sets were constant lapses in judgement and we just let them get on runs. The third set was more of what we like to see ourselves as."
