MVB: Regina falls in three to Brandon

REGINA, Sask. – The University of Regina men's volleyball team was defeated in three straight sets by Brandon on Friday night in a Canada West match at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

Brandon was dominant in a 25-15 first-set victory, then cruised to a 25-21 win in the second and clinched the match with another 25-15 win in the third.

Brandon's offence was led by the duo of Seth Friesen and Elliott Viles, who both ended up with 10 kills. Friesen had no errors and hit for a match-high .556 hitting percentage, while Viles also added nine digs, three service aces, and three blocks to help the Bobcats improve to 7-2 on the season. Reece Dixon had 28 assists while controlling a Brandon offence that hit .284 as a team in the win, while libero Brady Nault led all players with 10 digs.

Matthew Aubrey and Brennan Goski both had six kills for Regina (1-8).

The two teams will close out the weekend on Saturday night. They'll lead off the doubleheader with a 5:00 scheduled first serve.

NOTES: Regina rookie Rylan Metcalf made his Canada West debut, collecting a kill and a block while coming in as a sub in both the second set and the third set ... Metcalf's older brother, Mason Metcalf, is one of Brandon's starting middles and had five kills for the Bobcats.
