WINNIPEG - The #8 ranked Wesmen volleyball team dropped the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack in four sets at the Duckworth Centre in Winnipeg, 17-25, 25-21, 25-14 25-17.
TRU fought back late in the first to take the 1-0 advantage before the Wesmen offence started to roll as the hosts steamrolled the visitors after the first set blip.
The second-year outside hitter Daniel Thiessen led the Wesmen attack with 16 kills and an attacking percentage of .464 and 6 digs. David Bomersbach chipped in with 10 kills and 5 service aces, while setter Mikael Clegg had 39 assists. For the WolfPack Tim Dobbert was the only attacker in double figures with a game high 18 kills.
The two teams will close out the weekend series tomorrow evening with the first serve at 5pm CST. Winnipeg will look to move to 9-1 with a sweep, TRU sits at 2-5 and would look to move closer to .500 with the split.
