CALGARY – A spirited game two of the weekend Crowchild Classic series between the University of Calgary Dinos and the Mount Royal University Cougars ended in a 0-0 draw on the West Varsity Soccer Pitch Sunday afternoon.

Following a come-from-behind 3-2 win by the Dinos in Saturday's opener at MRU, hostilities were quite literally renewed in a game that featured a total of nine bookings.

In a slower first half, the first red card came in at the 13th minute for Mount Royal as Pavie Rai was sent off, forcing the Cougars to play with 10 men for the bulk of the contest. Then, early in the second half, a wild sequence: over the course of just four minutes, MRU's Moe El Gandour and Calgary's Adam Huskic received two yellow cards apiece and were sent off, leaving the final 35 minutes of the game to be played, remarkably, at 10-versus-9.

Play was frantic from that point as both sides got used to the unusual playing circumstance. It was the Dinos with the lion's share of the chances with their advantage in numbers, out-shooting MRU 6-0 in the second half and 15-5 overall in the contest. Mount Royal's Kyran Valley was the busier of the two goalkeepers, forced to make five saves, while Jake Ruschkowski turned in another solid performance for the Dinos with three stops on a lighter workday.

The Dinos currently rank second place in the Prairie Division with a record of 4-5-1, while the Cougars fall to 3-6-1. The Dinos will return to the West Varsity Pitch following the Thanksgiving weekend for the Battle of Alberta where they take on the MacEwan University Griffins on Saturday, Oct. 13 and the University of Alberta Golden Bears on Sunday, Oct 14. The Cougars will also play the Golden Bears and Griffins, on the opposite days.
