REGINA - The day after suffering its largest defeat in nearly 18 years, the University of Regina men's hockey team put forth a gritty performance to earn a 2-1 double-overtime win against Mount Royal at The Co-operators Centre on Saturday afternoon.

Arthur Miller scored the deciding goal on the powerplay with less than a minute left in the three-on-three overtime period, taking a behind the back feed from Tristan Frei at the top of the crease and potting the winner.

Tanner Campbell (pictured) scored the other goal for Regina, as the Cougars snap a nine-game skid and move to 3-12-1 on the Canada West season. Dawson MacAuley was stellar in the win, making 34 saves and holding MRU to just a goal the day after a 12-goal outing. Chris Gerrie was the one who solved MacAuley on Saturday, snapping a quick shot through the five-hole.

Campbell's goal opened the scoring with just 32 seconds left in the first period, as the rookie scored his second of the year on the powerplay. Landon Peel teed up a one-timer which was handled by Colin Cooper, but Campbell was in position to put away the rebound.

After Gerrie scored his fifth of the campaign late in the second period, the third passed with no score. With the first overtime period solving nothing, the three-on-three session came up.

A couple of big stops from MacAuley proved large, and with 2:47 left Kord Pankewicz was sent off for a nasty hit from behind on Frei. The Cougar captain would get his revenge minutes later, taking a pass from Peel and slipping it across the crease for Miller to put into the empty cage.

Cooper made 38 saves for MRU, as the visitors go to 7-5-4. Both teams will head into the December break, with conference action resuming on Jan. 4, 2019.
