REGINA, – Five Cougars scored in double figures as the University of Regina's men's basketball team used a balanced attack to deal a 92-53 loss to the UBC Okanagan Heat on Friday night in Canada West action at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

Kameron Vales led the offensive charge for the Cougars, hitting four three-pointers and scoring a team-leading 15 points.

"We started off well, showed off some energy, and were fortunate enough to shoot the ball well," Cougars head coach Steve Burrows said. "UBC Okanagan is a well-coached team and we know it's going to be a much tougher game tomorrow. We expect that we're going to have to make some adjustments."

Carter Millar added 14 points and eight rebounds for the Cougars, while Brayden Kuski chipped in with 11 points and Greishe Clerjuste and Myles Hamilton both scored 10.

The Cougars finished 17-for-34 from three-point range as a team, led by Vales going 4-for-6 and Kuski hitting three of his four attempts from long range.

Aldrich Berrios led all scorers with 17 points for UBC Okanagan, while Triston Matthews scored 16. Still very much in contention for the postseason, the Heat fall to 5-10 on the season.

The Cougars (9-4) and UBC Okanagan will close out their weekend set on Saturday night at the CKHS. Game time is set for 8:00.
