CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos completed a two-game sweep of the University of Saskatchewan Huskies with a 107-89 victory on home court Saturday night.

After a tight 24-21 first quarter in favour of Calgary, the Dinos got some breathing room in the second quarter increasing their lead 52–37 at the half. In the third quarter, the Dinos continued to pile on to their lead, scoring 32 points in the stanza.

The Huskies made a push to come back in the fourth quarter but it wasn't enough as the Dinos improved to 6-0 while the Huskies fall to 3-3.

"We're expecting to be in this position, and we expect a lot from this team," said Calgary head coach Dan Vanhooren. "We have to continue to get better each week if we are going to have a shot at anything."

Mambi Diawara led the way for the Dinos scoring 28 points off of 8-of-15 shooting, including a massive dunk in the first half.

"He let the offence come to him a bit more, he didn't press as much, and when he allows the offence to come to him he can be quite an effective player," Vanhooren said.

David Kapinga was a warrior tonight, finishing one rebound and two assists shy of a triple-double. He scored 18 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists.

Lars Schlueter had a productive night scoring 15 points and eight rebounds. Also, Max Eisele had 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting and Lucas Mannes scored 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting.

"That's the way (Eisele) can play he's intelligent and he makes the right reads and cuts for us. He is getting to the rim on back cuts and he makes good decisions as well," said Vanhooren. "He is a great defender, I think that's understated. He is one of the best defenders in the league by far."

As a team, the Dinos shot 50 per cent from the field and reached over 100 points for the second time this season.

Lawrence Moore had a big night for the Huskies scoring 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting, three of those from beyond the arc. Maxwell Amoafo wasn't far behind him scoring 16 points and seven rebounds.

The Dinos are back in action at home next weekend taking on the Victoria Vikes on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m., while Saskatchewan heads home for a pair of dates with the Winnipeg Wesmen next weekend.
