BRANDON – The Regina Cougars continued their winning ways on Friday night by bouncing the host Brandon Bobcats 100-82 at the Healthy Living Centre.

It was the second time in three games that Regina hit the century mark in scoring as the Cougars picked up their third straight Canada West victory.

"We have got a lot of talent on the team," said Samuel Hillis. "Everyone can shoot the ball and everyone can score. When you play well together and move the ball well, there is a lot of opportunity."

The Hillis brothers combined for 36 points for Regina. Samuel had a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Benjamin poured in 19 points.

Balanced offence was a big part of the Cougars' success with three others hitting double digits. Greishe Clerjuste collected 19, Brayden Kuski got 13 off the bench and Carter Millar added 12.

Brandon was able to equal Regina with five Bobcats reaching double figures. Troy Grant got a team-high 17 points, Jaleel Webb and Tyvon Cooper each collected 15 points, Pookie Saunders was next with 14 and Kevone Philip rounded out BU's offence with 10 points.

The Cougars held the Bobcats to just nine points in the second quarter, while scoring 20 points of their own to lead 45-31 at the break.

Brandon trailed by 24 points with 3:51 left in the third quarter, but a big surge by the Bobcats down the stretch cut the deficit to 11 going into the fourth.

The Bobcats' last home game on October 27 against the Manitoba Bisons saw late game heroics as BU rallied from 16 points down, but Brandon couldn't capture lightning in a bottle.

Regina's offence caught fire in the final frame with 34 points as they improved to 3-2, while BU slipped to 1-4 with the loss.

The rematch between the Cougars and the Bobcats is set for Saturday night at the HLC.
