WINNIPEG – The University of Manitoba Bisons lost their second game at home against the University of Victoria Vikes (86-76) in men's basketball at Investors Group Athletic Centre on Sunday. 

"We were motivated coming in," said Bisons fifth-year guard Justus Alleyn. "Our energy was a lot better [than Saturday], we just didn't come out on top today." 

Alleyn dominated the Bisons' offense, putting up 35 points. He went a near-perfect 8-9 from beyond the arc. 

"It's expected for me to play well, personally," said Alleyn. "I just hold myself to a pretty high standard." 

The hosts came out strong to start the game. In the opening quarter, the Herd had an impressive 69 per cent shooting efficiency. But, after the Vikes worked their way into the lead in the second quarter, the Bisons were unable to catch up. 

The Vikes' key shooters were second-year guard Scott Kellum, who put up 27 points, and fourth-year guard Jordan Charles, who added another 19.  

"Offensively we moved the ball really well," said Alleyn. "The only thing that was bad was our rebounding. We gave them too many second chances." 

The visitors' rebounding efforts were led by fourth-year forward Mason Lejeune. Lejeune was handed an unsportsmanlike foul in the fourth after getting tripped up with Alleyn. Lejeune was later given a technical foul and was ejected from the game.  

Although the Herd is still ahead in the conference standings, their record falls to 10-6 following this weekend's losses. Meanwhile, the Vikes record gets bumped up to 8-6.  

The Bisons stay in Winnipeg next weekend, playing one game at the University of Winnipeg Wesmen's Duckworth Centre, and one game on their home-court. They host first on Friday at 8 p.m. CT at the Investor's Group Athletic Centre.  

The Vikes also stay at home to take on the University of Northern British Columbia Timberwolves on Friday at 8 p.m. PT.
