WINNIPEG – The University of Manitoba Bisons men's basketball team completed the sweep over the No. 3 University of Lethbridge Pronghorns in a 91-69 win at Investors Group Athletic Centre on Saturday (Jan. 6).

The Bisons had an overall well-rounded offence. Fifth-year forward Joey Nitychoruk's aggressive play beneath the rim earned him Player of the Game with 18 points and eight rebounds.

"Joey had one of his best games in a couple months," said Bisons Head Coach Kirby Schepp. "The energy level was great."

The Herd held a consistent lead throughout the game with guard Justus Alleyn as the top scorer. Alleyn put up 23 points, with nine of those from beyond the arc. He has scored into the double-digits in every game so-far this season.

The Herd has now won their last five games. Their record improves to 10-4, while the Horns fall to 10-4.

The Pronghorns scoring was led by fourth-year guard Zac Overwater. He posted 25 points and 11 rebounds for the visitors by making space for himself down low and using his height advantage.

The Horns leading scorer from Friday night, Saren Westrop, was ejected from Saturday's game in the third quarter after getting an unsportsmanlike and a technical foul.

Also in Friday's game, the Bisons scored their highest number of points so-far this season with a 94-84 win over Lethbridge. Alleyn and guard Rashawn Browne dominated the court with a combined 42 points for the Bisons.

Manitoba plays again next Saturday, Jan. 13 at 2 p.m. CT when they host the University of Victoria Vikes. The Horns stay in Lethbridge next weekend to host the UBC Thunderbirds on Jan. 12 at 8 p.m. MT.
