WINNIPEG—Alex Igual gets a 2-pointer for Regina that bounces in with only two seconds left to play in the fourth quarter breaking a tie. Regina wins the game 89-87 at Investors Group Athletic Centre against home team, Manitoba Bisons.

The game was back-and-forth and Manitoba was able to tie up the game with only a minute left when Bisons Justus Alleyn got two free throws off a foul by Cougar Brian Ofori.

A costly foul by Alex Igual with 1:30 left in the game let the Herd catch up. With just over a minute left, Bisons Rashawn Browne got a field goal making the score even closer.

"I mean, it was a tough hard-fought battle. Regina came out—and I thought—controlled the tempo early, you know, really executing offensively a little better than we did. We played a little better in the second half but unfortunately it wasn't enough to complete the comeback," said head coach Kirby Schepp. 

Bisons James Wagner opened scoring in the first minute of the game but Cougars quickly took a 6-2 lead with a crucial nothing-but-net three-point field goal.

Manitoba played a game of catch up throughout the first two quarters, briefly leading the game in the late minutes of the second but was unable to hold on. 

Heading into the third, the Herd was down 52-46 but were leading in scoring efficiency with 50% to Regina's 33.3%. Bisons were able to head into the fourth trailing by just one point with a score of 71-70.

The fourth quarter was back-and-fourth between the two teams but the points scored with just two seconds left no opportunity for the Bisons to answer.

Manitoba plays MacEwan at home next weekend Nov. 11 & 12, while Regina will head home to play UFV.
