Highlights:

• Saskatchewan Roughriders offensive lineman Brendon LaBatte is the Canada West Football Alumnus of the Month for October, after helping the Riders to three wins

EDMONTON – Former Regina Ram Brendon LaBatte is the Canada West Football Alumnus of the Month for October, after helping the Saskatchewan Roughriders to a trio of wins and a playoff spot.

The Weyburn, Sask. product started all four games for Saskatchewan in the month, as the Green and White earned victories over Toronto (Oct. 7: 27-24), Calgary (Oct. 20: 30-7), and Montreal (Oct. 27: 37-12).

Saskatchewan's win over Calgary clinched the Riders a playoff spot, and snapped a 10-game winless skid against the Stampeders.

LaBatte, who recently inked a new four-year extension with Saskatchewan, has been a mainstay on the Riders offensive line since joining the team as a free agent in February of 2012. Since joining the team after four seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, LaBatte has started 84 games for Saskatchewan, including the 2013 Grey Cup at home, where the Riders downed the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 45-23.

A four-time league all-star, seven-time division all-star, and recipient of the CFL's Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman honour in 2013, LaBatte was a CW all-star in 2007 and second team All-Canadian before being selected 6^th overall by Winnipeg in the 2008 CFL Draft. 

LaBatte and the Roughriders finish the regular season this Saturday (5 p.m. CST) with a home game against the Edmonton Eskimos, while the Rams take on the UBC Thunderbids Saturday (3 p.m. PDT) in the Hardy Cup semifinals.
