AUSTIN, Texas – Quarterback Andrew Buckley of the University of Calgary and offensive linemen Joshua Butcher of the University of Saskatchewan were named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America® College Division Football Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The Capital One Academic All-America® College Division football team includes student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions.  

Buckley is making his second consecutive appearance on the team. The senior from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, has a 3.83 G.P.A. studying kinesiology. Buckley piloted one of the most prolific offenses ever seen in Canada West Universities Athletic Association, throwing for 2,788 yards and 23 touchdowns. He completed 181 passes in 276 attempts for a 65.6 percent completion percentage while giving up only eight interceptions. On the ground, Buckley ran for 583 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Butcher entered the College of Medicine in 2014 with a 4.00 GPA from the College of Kinesiology. In 2014, he played in eight regular season contests and one playoff game on the offensive line, starting three at centre. During his two years in Kinesiology, the Edmonton native won the Second Year Book Prize and was on the Dean’s List both years. He was also a Huskie Athletics First Team All-Academic and a CIS Academic All-Canadian.
