Bisons Evan Gill, Anthony Coombs listed in CFL Scouting Bureau's Top 15

EDMONTON – The Canadian Football League Scouting Bureau today published its Winter top 15 ranking of prospects eligible for the 2014 Canadian Draft, with University of Manitoba's Evan Gill at No. 6 and Anthony Coombs No. 9.

Gill, a defensive lineman who was a 2013 Canada West All-Star, is also a Winnipeg product and has been invited to play for the West team in the 2014 U.S. College East-West Shrine Game at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida this upcoming Saturday. He becomes just the third Bison selected to participate since 1985, with the last being Israel Idonije of the NFL's Detroit Lions in 2003. In three seasons (2011-13), the Arts majors has accumulated 7.5 sacks, including three this past season, to with five pass break-ups. His 7.5 tackles for in 2013 ranked second in the conference.

Coombs, a three-time Canada West All-Star, two-time CIS First Team All-Canadian and once a Second Team All-Canadian, has rushed for 2,232 yards, 17 touchdowns and a 7.5-yard average during four seasons with the Bisons (2010-13), adding 51 receptions for 840 yards and 11 scores. A Science major out of Winnipeg, he ranks seventh all-time in Canada West touchdowns, with 29, including a 98-yard punt return in 2012. On October 26, 2013 Coombs recorded a league-record 107-yard run from scrimmage.

For the second-straight ranking, McGill offensive lineman Laurent Duvernay-Tardif is the top ranked prospect.

- The ranking includes four offensive linemen, four linebackers, three defensive linemen, two defensive backs one receiver and one running back.

- All 15 ranked players on last winter's CFL Scouting Bureau list (it was published in December) were selected in the 2013 CFL Draft. Seven of those players were selected in the first round.

The 2014 CFL Combine will be held in Toronto from March 21-23. The date of the 2014 CFL Draft is yet to be confirmed.
