XC: Dinos claim Stewart Cup in Edmonton

EDMONTON - The University of Calgary's cross country teams managed to continue their winning streak and bring home the Stewart Cup at the meet hosted in Edmonton over the weekend.

Both teams finished with athletes in first place, Russell Pennock at 32:16 for the men's 10k and Melissa Jones, 30:36, for the women's 8k. 

The women finished with an overall score of 47 points, and the hosting University of Alberta in second with 54 points, followed by MacEwan University with 71. On the men's side, they finished with 29 points, with the University of Regina Cougars in second with 49 points, and the Manitoba Bisons in third with 75. 

The Dinos will now decide the athletes to bring to the USports Championships two weeks from now in Victoria, BC on November 12. From this competition, the placements of racers will also determine the rankings of CanWest Championships making this competition two championships in one. The men's team heads into USports sitting in fourth place, and the women are sitting in 8th.
